About the role:

As a Ceramics Engineer 2 you will apply knowledge of ceramics and materials science to support the development or enhancement of uranium-based oxides and related materials for nuclear applications, translating engineering requirements into manufacturing instructions, development and execution of test plans and preparation of engineering analyses and calculations.

You will report to the Materials and Fuel Rod Design Manager. This is a hybrid role, located in Columbia, SC.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform design changes to support manufacturability improvements
• Work with manufacturing to address and resolve materials-related manufacturing issues
• Work in multifaceted teams with focus on new product development or issue resolution
• Work with customers, national laboratories, and universities for collaborative development programs to develop advanced materials and work with both internal and external testing laboratories
• Implement hands-on materials testing programs in a test lab or production environment
• Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirement within schedule and budget requirements
• Participate in project teams and communicate with responsible project managers the nature and status of work projects

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Ceramics or Materials Engineering or a related Discipline (e.g., Chemical, Nuclear etc.) preferred or recognized equivalent required
• Minimum 0-3 years of engineering experience required

Beneficial:

• Hands-on experience with ceramics including fabrication and processing

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
